Here With Us

Mmmm, mmmm, so good for my soul. Here With Us by Joy Williams.

Enjoy.

While You Were Sleeping

Another music video about Christmas. This one is kinda old, from 2005, I think. Gives me a new perspective on Silent Night.

Mark Hall, singer and songwriter with Casting Crowns, gives some background on this wonderful song.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Today is my sweet mother's birthday!

It's been a tough, tough year for you mom (and dad), but you are strong and faithful. Mom, I know you pray all the time and you have been a faithful servant to the Lord. Only He knows why we go through trials and tribulations, but I believe He will take care of you.
I love you!

A pic from back in the day when my almost 21 year old son was a baby.

How Many Kings

Another wonderful Christmas song! Just love 'em. This is a rather new one from a band called Downhere. Listen to the lyrics and your heart will be reminded.

O Holy Night

Please check out this video of Aretha Franklin singing O Holy Night. One of the most moving renditions I have ever heard. This is one of my favorite Christmas songs and it gives me goosebumps to hear it sung so soulfully. Just amazing... May it bless your spirit as it has mine.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

I have to say, I had a really huge wonderful day today. Our V Days are usually low key, maybe a little candy every now and then, but for the most part we just say "Happy Valentine's Day sweetie" and "I love you" and mushy stuff like that. (We're big on saying "I love you" every day, not just Valentine's Day!)

Anyway, the hubby and boys outdid themselves this year and I appreciate EVERYTHING they did and said! I'm grateful to have my family with me as often as possible. Especially when we're all getting along. :o)

Prayers are answered

I am so happy, and grateful, that my wonderful mom-in-law finally got a job. She had been without one for six l-o-n-g months and was feeling those yucky feelings we all feel when we repeatedly lose out on prospective opportunities. So, I am thrilled that all of our prayers were answer and God found the perfect job for her!!!

Sister Time

I'm happy today because I got to spend quality time with my sis! We don't get to see each other very often so it's really special when we get to hang out. I love my sis very much and definitely wish I could see her more often.

Love ya sis!

Random Positivity

"Our weaknesses are an opportunity for God to show his strength."
- M Horton, professor or theology

"The difference between can and cannot are only three letters. Three letters that determine your life's direction."
- R Sasson

"Don't waste time looking backward. You'll just trip."
- B Trevor Greive, artist

"Somewhere someone is looking for exactly what you have to offer."
- L L Hay, founder of the Hay Foundation

Empty Me

I found this song today while looking for Fernando Ortega's version of Give Me Jesus. This song is called Empty Me and is being sung by Chris Sligh, who was an American Idol contestant. I just found it so inspiring and moving...

Please watch, you will probably have to turn up the sound to hear the words clearly.

By the way, I don't like having to use YouTube for music, but it's the only quick resource I know of right now. Also, I have two different versions of Give Me Jesus linked so give them a listen. There is also a different Empty Me by Jeremy Camp, but I didn't link that one.

The Serenity Prayer

As modified in Wynona Judd's book, Coming Home to Myself.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change (which is my Mom), the courage to change the things I can (which is me) and the wisdom to know the difference (which is hard!).

Boy, I can relate to her changes, but mine would read like so:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change (my past, other people), the courage to change the things I can (myself, my future) and the wisdom to know the difference (which IS hard!)

Not so much of a funny today; more of a food for thought. Wynona's book is better than I thought it would be. I will have to read it again, except with a highlighter in hand.

A little chuckle goes a long way

Some humorous things I read in the Reader's Digest:

Mom was helping her son review his math.

"You have seven dollars and seven friends." she said. "You give a dollar to two of them, but none to the others. What do you have left?"

From the kitchen, big sister called out "Two friends!"

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I hope this is a blessed year for everyone!

I was reading an old Guidepost magazine and came across this story called What If? I haven't completed the story yet, but I'm sure it's a good one.

In searching for a Faith Hill song on YouTube, I happen to stumble across this really cool Sand Artist, Joe Castillo. You can check out his site here.

Please watch this sand art video done to a song called What If? - the song I accidentally came across.

How funny is God to have me come across the same topic in two totally different platforms without me even looking for it. I am also amazed at the variety of talent God gives each of us for His glory. Praise the Lord!!!
